EPD, Environmental Product Declaration
The environmental product declarations give us an opportunity to evaluate the climate impact of our products from a life cycle perspective. Our products are often used for buildings that are to be environmentally certified according to different standards and our EPDs help our customers in their work to build sustainable buildings. The EPDs have been quality checked and approved by an independent organization, which ensures that the data has been calculated in a standardized way. K-Prefab’s EPDs are registered with Environdec Sweden.

Building material declaration
K-Prefab’s building product declarations convey information that can be used to assess a product’s environmental impact at various stages of its life cycle. eBVD 1.0 is an industry standard and the construction industry’s latest format of Building material declaration. Format and content are owned by Byggmaterialindustrierna. All published eBVDs are available in one database: Published eBVDs.

Environmental Certification K-Prefab
K-Prefab AB works in accordance with ISO 14001:2015 and the main part of the business is certified. ISO 14001:2015 is an international standard for environmental management systems. K-Prefab’s facilities undergo regular audits carried out by RISE, which verifies that we meet the requirements of the standard.
Environmental Certification, Buildings
There are several different systems for environmental certification of buildings. The most common that our customers work with are Svanen and Miljöbyggnad.
Svanen
One-family houses, apartment buildings and preschool buildings can receive the Swan label. Swan-labelled buildings are primarily evaluated on the living environment and energy efficiency as well as waste management during the operating period. Products to be used in Swan-labelled buildings must be approved in the Husproduktportalen. K-Prefab’s type elements are registered in the portal.
Miljöbyggnad
Miljöbyggnad is an environmental certification system for buildings. A building is assessed with up to sixteen indicators in the areas of energy, indoor environment and materials. The building’s environmental characteristics determine whether it receives the Bronze, Silver or Gold rating.
BREEAM
BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is an environmental certification system from Great Britain, BREEAM is one of the oldest environmental certification systems and the system has been used to certify over 500,000 buildings.
BREEAM-SE is used to certify newly produced buildings and the building’s environmental performance is assessed in a number of different areas. For example, the building’s energy use, indoor climate, water management and waste management are assessed and scored. The project management, the building’s location in relation to public means of communication, the choice of building materials and the pollution the building can cause are also included in the assessment. Extra points can be gained for how innovative the building is in its technical solutions.
LEED
LEED is developed by the U.S. Green Building Council and was launched in 1998. LEED is a global certification system, which aims to identify, implement and measure environmentally friendly design, construction, operation and maintenance.
Environmental databases
There are several different databases for environmental assessment of construction products. K-Prefab´s standard elements are assessed and approved in all of them.
BASTA
BASTA is the only independent environmental assessment system for building and construction products. BASTA contributes to achieving the national Swedish environmental goal ”Non-toxic environment” by phasing out substances with hazardous properties from building and construction products.
The BASTA registration means that we can prove that this product meets agreed property criteria regarding environmental and health-hazardous properties. See www.bastaonline.se
Byggvarubedömningen
Assessments are made based on criteria that are based on chemical content, life cycle and social responsibility at the supplier level.
SundaHus
SundaHus Environmental data is a system of health and environmentally audited building material that are used in construction and property management, e.g. to ensure conscious environmental choices and to document building material used in the building and products used in management and operation.
